Police and Municipality Discuss Road Closures in Kiryat HaSofrim After Child Hit

Following a week of tension and a recent incident where a young child was injured, representatives from the Israel Police and the Bnei Brak Municipality convened this week to discuss and regulate road closures in the new Kiryat HaSofrim neighborhood. The meeting aimed to find a mutually agreed-upon solution that would allow normal life to continue in the area while maintaining public order.

The discussions were prompted by a serious incident last Shabbat when a three-year-old girl was lightly injured by a vehicle during heated demonstrations in the neighborhood. She was evacuated to Schneider Children's Medical Center in Petah Tikva and is in stable condition.

The regulation of road closures will follow the established procedure used for Shabbat closures at the "Gesher HaLehi" (Lehi Bridge), a protocol that has proven effective over the years in balancing residents' needs with public order. The police emphasized their commitment to upholding public order and enforcing the agreed-upon regulations.

During the meeting, it was stressed that any acts of violence, threats, property damage, or other criminal offenses would be dealt with decisively and without tolerance. The police stated they would act within their authority to address any disturbances.

Both the police and municipality are calling on all parties to act responsibly, avoid confrontations, and adhere to the legal arrangements that will be finalized. The matter is now under the municipality's purview, with parties awaiting a final resolution to ensure continued normal life in the neighborhood.
