Alon Sarid, a 20-year-old Israeli epee fencer, won a silver medal on Tuesday night and became the European senior vice champion after an outstanding competition. The result came in an individual event and marked a historic achievement for Israeli fencing.
Sarid, who represents the School of Fencing club, is only the third Israeli fencer ever to medal in the individual senior European Championships. Before him, the only Israelis to do so were Naimi Mills, an Olympic epee fencer, who won bronze in 2010, and Yuval Freilich, an Olympic epee fencer, who won gold and was crowned European champion in 2019.
The Israel Fencing Association said it was proud and moved by the milestone and expressed deep appreciation to Sarid and his coaching staff for their dedication, investment, and years of continuous work. The article was published on June 17, 2026, at 00:24 by Sport 5.
