Nachal Oz Residents Rebuild Lives Amidst Trauma and Renewed Hope

Nearly three years after the October 7th massacre, the kibbutz of Nachal Oz is experiencing a period of renewal, with new homes being built, children being born, and educational frameworks reopening. However, the community grapples with the memory of murdered friends and the persistent threat from Gaza, symbolized by kites flying overhead and the sounds of combat.

Despite the trauma, the residents of Nachal Oz are determined to rebuild their lives in their beloved home. Naama, who coordinates the community's return, shared her personal struggle with returning to the site of the tragedy. "From this very path, we were evacuated on October 7th," she recalled, remembering the Humvee that rescued them. "Today, as I walk here, I see the projects happening, the construction. If I don't look forward, I can't live here."
