Israel Fears Iranian-Hamas Attacks Abroad During Holiday Season

Israel is preparing for an intensified Iranian effort to target Israeli interests and Jewish communities abroad, according to security officials. There is significant concern within the security establishment about a potential "quality attack" orchestrated through cooperation between Iran's Quds Force and Hamas abroad.

The current period, encompassing the Jewish High Holidays and the upcoming third anniversary of the October 7th attacks, is seen as a prime opportunity for such operations. Israeli defense officials interpret the recent missile fire towards Aqaba, Jordan, as a deliberate signal of Iranian audacity and capability to strike in the region.

Defense Minister Israel Katz has alluded to the heightened threat, suggesting that the Quds Force and Hamas may be coordinating to attack Israeli targets overseas. The primary fear is a high-impact attack designed to escalate the conflict and create a greater effect than previous incidents.

In response to the elevated security tensions, the Israeli government is expected to extend the special home front defense status on Sunday. This measure, initially set to expire, is likely to be prolonged beyond September 23rd, pending ongoing security assessments.
