Iran Nears 'Point of No Return' for New War Against Israel, Intelligence Assesses

Israeli security assessments indicate that the Iranian regime is approaching a "point of no return" and may soon initiate a new war against Israel. Political and security leadership in Israel are preparing for the possibility of renewed Iranian military action in the near future, according to Channel 12.

A source within the security establishment stated, "The Iranian regime feels it has reached a dead end, and the only way out is to resume the war. We have not yet reached that point and have not heard of Iran's final decision on this matter, but we are definitely observing signs, and they are serious. In particular, the recent shelling of Aqaba was an attempt to send a signal to Israel."

Intelligence suggests Iran recognizes its diminished leverage over the Strait of Hormuz and might consider resuming hostilities to threaten oil and water infrastructure in the Persian Gulf. The perceived goal is to pressure U.S. President Donald Trump into easing economic sanctions.

In response, Defense Minister Israel Katz held a situation assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir and senior officers. The meeting was publicly announced.

Earlier reports indicated that Israeli security forces had evaluated the potential for Iran to retaliate on behalf of Hezbollah by resuming military operations against Israel.
