Pro-Palestinian Demonstrators Rally in Haifa's German Colony

Dozens of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered Thursday evening in Haifa's German Colony, at the intersection of Ben Gurion Boulevard and Allenby Road. This marks the first such protest in the area after a prolonged period without similar gatherings.

The protesters carried signs in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, chanting slogans against Israeli policies and the ongoing war. Chants included "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," "From the river to the sea, Israel spills blood," and "Gaza, do not despair, we will end the occupation."

They also called for an end to the war in Gaza and protested Israeli actions in the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria. Additionally, the demonstrators voiced opposition to what they termed "police violence and political persecution" within Israel's pre-1967 borders, demanding the release of prisoners with slogans like "Release the prisoners and jail the ministers."

Police forces were present near the demonstration, with numerous patrol cars arriving in the area. No clashes or arrests were reported at the time of the article's publication. The German Colony has previously hosted similar protests that resulted in confrontations with the police. Last July, police arrested 24 pro-Palestinian protesters at the same location during a demonstration against IDF operations in Gaza. At that time, police claimed the protesters did not follow orders, while the Adalah organization alleged excessive force and selective enforcement.
