Israeli Researchers Secure $17 Million in Prestigious European Research Grants

Ten promising Israeli researchers have been awarded Starting Grants from the European Research Council (ERC), a highly competitive and prestigious award for early-career scientists. The total funding for these approved Israeli projects exceeds $17 million, with each laureate receiving up to $1.7 million over a five-year period to establish their own research groups. The grants were distributed among leading Israeli academic institutions, with Tel Aviv University receiving five awards, the Technion and Bar-Ilan University each securing two, and the Weizmann Institute of Science receiving one. The awarded projects span cutting-edge fields including quantum processors, cardiovascular bioengineering, neurobiology, algorithmic computation, artificial intelligence, and molecular cell biology.
