Israeli PM's Office Tours Site for New Settlement 'Metzukei Eretz'

Officials from the Prime Minister's Office visited the planned site for a new settlement called "Metzukei Eretz" (Cliffs of the Land) on Thursday. The settlement is slated to be established along the Alon Road in the Benjamin region, with the first group of families expected to move in soon. The tour was led by the head of the Benjamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, Yisrael Gantz, and the chairman of the Settlement Division, Yishai Merling.

During the visit, participants reviewed establishment plans, discussed challenges on the ground, and emphasized the strategic importance of the location. They presented the necessary infrastructure and governmental assistance required to facilitate the settlement's establishment to the Prime Minister's Office representatives. "Metzukei Eretz" is one of 13 settlements approved by the political-security cabinet, spearheaded by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. It is expected to be the first official, regulated settlement established along the Alon Road in many years.

The establishment of "Metzukei Eretz" is a joint effort with the Ministry of Settlement Affairs and the Settlement Division, part of an initial wave to establish up to six settlements in the area. "The Alon Road is one of the strategic axes of the State of Israel, connecting the eastern border to the heart of the country," Gantz stated. "Metzukei Eretz will be a settlement and security anchor along this axis."
