Prominent Anti-Child Marriage Activist Investigated for Allegedly Planning Daughter's Wedding

A leading Israeli activist against child marriage was investigated on Thursday on suspicion of planning to marry off her underage daughter. The activist, who has publicly campaigned against child marriage and participated in Knesset discussions on the issue, allegedly signed a contract with an event hall owner in central Israel for her daughter's wedding, scheduled for late June. Investigators questioned the hall owner, who confirmed the contract's existence. He stated that the activist canceled the event at the last minute and that he is considering suing her, though he has not filed a police complaint. It remains unclear if the wedding took place elsewhere.
