Court Awards Major Damages to Israel Ziv Over Oct. 7 Conspiracy Claims

A Kfar Saba Magistrate's Court has ordered Ida Shifoni to pay approximately NIS 180,000 to retired Major General Yisrael Ziv, ruling on claims made by Shifoni following the October 7th Hamas attacks. Judge Ronen Peleg determined that Shifoni's published statements clearly implied Ziv had prior knowledge of the massacre and failed to warn the IDF.

Shifoni's post questioned Ziv's presence at the scene on the morning of the attacks, alongside figures like Yair Golan and Noam Tibon, suggesting they were "prepared and polished to storm the photographers" while soldiers were unaware. The court found the implication that Ziv and his associates knew in advance about the planned massacre and did not update the IDF to be explicit and unambiguous.

Judge Peleg stated that the publication carried two serious implications: that Ziv betrayed his country and that he appeared at the scene not to fight, but for media attention and self-aggrandizement. The ruling also noted the bravery of security forces who fought together regardless of political views, with many paying the ultimate price.

The court's decision awarded Ziv approximately NIS 180,000 in damages.
