Golan to Sue Netanyahu's Wife Over Oct. 7 Conspiracy Theories

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, is preparing to file a defamation lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The legal action follows Netanyahu's refusal to retract conspiracy theories she propagated about Golan's actions on October 7, the day of the Hamas attacks.

Netanyahu had accused Golan, a high-ranking former military official, of being "dressed and ready" early on October 7, implying he was not actively involved in the initial response. Golan denies this, stating he left his home at 8:30 AM and proceeded to Home Front Command. He plans to present a detailed timeline and previously unseen documentation from that day as part of his lawsuit.

Golan had initially demanded a public apology and a financial settlement to be donated to survivors of the Nova music festival massacre within 24 hours, threatening legal action if his demands were not met. However, Sara Netanyahu rejected these demands. Instead, she reportedly demanded a public apology and clarification from Golan within 24 hours, along with NIS 100,000 in compensation within 48 hours, threatening a counterclaim of NIS 1 million if he failed to comply.

The dispute originated from an interview Sara Netanyahu gave to Channel 14, a pro-Netanyahu outlet, where she echoed conspiracy theories concerning Golan's conduct on October 7. Golan intends to use the lawsuit to definitively refute these allegations and plans to reveal new materials from the day of the attacks, including his timeline of events and his actions at the Nova festival site where he reportedly saved six people.
