Hezbollah Gathers Intelligence on IDF Amid Ceasefire Preparations for Renewed Conflict

Hezbollah continues to gather intelligence on Israeli military forces despite the ongoing ceasefire, according to security sources speaking to i24NEWS. The group is reportedly studying IDF operational methods, identifying movement patterns, and mapping troop deployments in anticipation of a potential resumption of hostilities in southern Lebanon.

Sources indicate that Hezbollah aims to maintain an updated intelligence picture of Israeli forces. This information could enable the group to revert to tactics involving infiltration and ambushes, alongside launching explosive drones and planting explosive devices against Israeli troops and vehicles should fighting reignite.

The intelligence gathering occurs as the "Yonatan" battalion of the Hishmonaim Brigade concludes a six-month operational tour in southern Lebanon. The battalion, operating under Brigades 300 and 679 as part of Division 91, conducted defensive and offensive operations. These included searching for and destroying Hezbollah infrastructure, discovering weapons caches, tunnel entrances, and prepared rocket launch sites aimed at Israel.

During their deployment, the forces also participated in implementing the ceasefire agreement in the region. The report also notes Israel's hesitation to strike the southern suburbs of Beirut following the launch of two drones toward the Israeli military in southern Lebanon.
