Top Rabbis Urge Support for "Soul Ransom" Campaign to Save Lives

Leading rabbis have issued a strong call for public support of the annual "Kufar Nefesh" (Soul Ransom) fundraising campaign by the organization Yad L'Achim. The campaign, which precedes the High Holy Days, aims to fund the organization's efforts in saving Jewish lives from spiritual dangers and assimilation.

Rabbi Dov Landau, a prominent yeshiva head, emphasized the obligation of every Jew to contribute, stating, "This is a duty incumbent upon every Jew; certainly, I will take part in this. It is a great privilege." He highlighted his long-standing support for Yad L'Achim's work, dating back to its founder.

The Rebbe of Sanz described Yad L'Achim's activities as "taking the precious from the worthless, literally. This is a soul ransom for many souls." He elaborated on the spiritual threats, such as assimilation and cults, that the organization combats, calling their work a unique mission requiring immense effort and resources.

Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch, another prominent yeshiva leader, recalled his own involvement in similar life-saving activities in his youth. He urged the organization's activists to continue their work, stating, "Continue the activity, you are our emissaries!"

Yad L'Achim stated that the rabbis' endorsements underscore the public's responsibility to support their year-round operations. These include rescuing women and children from difficult situations, rehabilitating families, thwarting missionary activities, and preventing Jews from distancing themselves from their heritage. The "Kufar Nefesh" campaign allows individuals to directly participate in these life-saving efforts, especially during the High Holy Days when seeking merit is paramount.
