President Herzog Calls for Cooperation Among Medical Experts Amid Global Divisions

President Isaac Herzog addressed approximately 400 medical experts from Israel and Europe at the 49th World Congress of the European Association for Oral Rehabilitation in Tel Aviv. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration in medicine and research, particularly in the current global climate marked by increasing divisions.

Herzog acknowledged the effort many attendees made to reach Israel, noting that convening across borders is not a given in today's world. He stated that the choice to gather, listen, and learn together serves as a testament to the possibility of continued cooperation for the common good. "The pursuit of knowledge and the treatment of patients are greater than politics," Herzog asserted, highlighting the belief that scientific progress and open exchange of ideas benefit humanity.

He drew parallels between the work of medical rehabilitation professionals and Israel's own history, referencing the nation's founding and its emphasis on human ingenuity and innovation despite resource limitations. Herzog specifically linked the concept of rehabilitation to Israel's experience since the October 7th attacks, stating, "After a fracture, there can be healing. After injury, life can be restored to its course."

The congress is set to focus on research and technological advancements in oral rehabilitation, facilitating knowledge exchange and international partnerships among physicians and researchers.
