Israeli Strikes Kill One, Injure Another in Southern Lebanon

An Israeli drone strike on the Rweiss neighborhood in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, on Wednesday killed one person and injured another. The strike was part of a wider series of Israeli raids, artillery shelling, and explosions targeting several areas and towns in southern Lebanon, indicating a significant escalation in military operations and retaliatory strikes.

Lebanese sources reported that the initial strike in Rweiss wounded two individuals, with one later succumbing to his injuries. The other injured person was taken for medical treatment. Simultaneously, an Israeli drone targeted a residential apartment in the Maslaha neighborhood of Nabatieh with a guided missile, according to the official Lebanese news agency.

The attacks were not confined to Nabatieh. Lebanese sources reported two airstrikes near the towns of Kfar Rumman and Arabsalim, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling on the Ali Al-Tahir hill. Arabsalim was also hit by an airstrike, while the hill experienced artillery fire, with aerial activity and strikes continuing in various southern regions.

In a separate development, Israeli forces reportedly carried out demolitions of homes in the Mansouri area, alongside explosions targeting several sites in the towns of Kfar Tibnit, Mansouri, and Houla. Artillery shelling also hit areas in Mansouri and Zawtar Al-Sharqiyeh, expanding the scope of bombardment.

The Israeli military stated it conducted an airstrike targeting what it described as Hezbollah infrastructure in the Nabatieh area. The military linked this strike to an earlier incident where it claimed two explosive drones were launched towards its forces in the Al-Tahir Heights security zone, asserting the strike was a response to this attack. This account contrasts with Lebanese reports of civilian casualties and damage.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced the activation of air raid sirens in several areas of Upper Galilee, including Kfar Yuval, Ma'ayan Baruch, and Al-Jarmak, due to suspicion of a drone infiltration from Lebanon. Interceptor missiles were reportedly launched at a suspicious aerial target, though initial investigations suggested the sirens might have been triggered by a false alarm.
