Likud spokesman Guy Levy said in an interview Tuesday on Reshet Bet's "Kovnovik" program that he expects the Knesset election to be held on October 20.
Levy was asked about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's interest in отменing the party primaries. He said the party needs renewal, saying it requires "new blood" and people who see things differently, both because of October 7 and for other reasons.
He added that Likud plans to work toward bringing in younger activists and candidates with proven experience, saying, "We will act to implement this, to bring more people into the party, young people, people with credentials, people who will add another layer to our party." Levy also said Netanyahu has received proposals from the grassroots to cancel the primaries and is now considering them.
According to Levy, Likud already has "excellent Knesset members," and he expressed confidence that the party's 170,000 registered members will choose its representatives. He said Netanyahu believes there are several names he still needs to bring in, and that once he does, both Likud members and voters will be pleased to see them join the party.
