Likud Lawyer Calls Election App Ban 'Terror Attack' in Court
A lawyer representing the Likud party in Israel's Supreme Court described a ban on using an election day app as a "terror attack" against the party. The app, "Elector," was intended to inform parties about voter turnout before polls closed.
During a hearing on the app's use, attorney Ilan Bombach argued that canceling its operation on the eve of elections would cause "enormous damage" to Likud. Supreme Court Justice Yael Vilner reprimanded Bombach for using the term "terror attack" in court.
The hearing addresses a prohibition imposed by the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Justice Noam Sohlberg, on the use of applications designed to report to parties on the identity of voters who have cast their ballots before the closing of the polls.
