Haredi MK Believes Gadi Eisenkot Wants Ultra-Orthodox in Government

Member of Knesset Yaakov Asher of the Degel HaTorah party expressed his belief that Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent figure likely seeking to form a government, would want the ultra-Orthodox parties as coalition partners. Asher stated at a conference hosted by Ynet and Yediot Ahronot, in collaboration with the Israel Democracy Institute, that "anyone who wants to be prime minister and wants partners and a stable government will probably want us."

Addressing the stalled conscription exemption law, Asher criticized the government's approach, saying, "If someone thinks such a law, which concerns a million and a half people, can be passed without agreement and dialogue, they are throwing sand in the public's eyes." He emphasized the need for broad consensus on the sensitive issue.

Furthermore, Asher voiced criticism of new Haredi parties, labeling their purpose as solely "a waste of votes." He suggested these parties detract from the established ultra-Orthodox political representation without offering substantive benefit.
