Police Spokesperson Unit Head Leaves Post Amid Health Concerns and Investigation

Police Commissioner Danny Levi has determined that Superintendent Lior Abudraham will end his service in the Israel Police on January 31, 2027, citing health reasons. In a letter to Abudraham, Levi stated, "Unfortunately, your health condition does not permit continued service in the Israel Police. I am therefore compelled to inform you of the termination of your service," adding wishes for Abudraham's health and future success.

Abudraham's departure comes against the backdrop of allegations of sexual harassment against a senior female police officer, for which he was investigated in June. He was also investigated by the Israel Competition Authority in connection with suspicions against Prisons Commissioner Kobi Yaacobi, leading to his temporary suspension from the police for one week.

Further revelations indicated that Abudraham admitted to Commissioner Alona Shoshan about an affair with an investigator from the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash). These recorded statements caused controversy, particularly as Abudraham is a key witness for Mahash against Commissioner Yaacobi. Abudraham claimed he knew he was being recorded and wanted to prove Shoshan was leaking information to Yaacobi. In another revealed conversation, Abudraham expressed feeling targeted, stating, "They are lynching me. They are trying to eliminate me. I am calling to make sure this wasn't accidentally leaked by you. I am receiving an inquiry: Did you have a sexual relationship with a Mahash investigator? I told you I have nothing with the investigator. It never happened. I am going to make a fuss. I keep holding back, holding back, but what do they want? For me to start babbling? For me to start talking?"
