United Arab List Taps Former Deputy Minister Yoav Segalovich for Knesset Seat

The United Arab List party announced on Monday evening that former Deputy Minister of Internal Security, Yoav Segalovich, will join their Knesset slate in the upcoming elections, running in the second position. The announcement was made by party leader Mansour Abbas during a press conference in Nazareth.

Abbas stated that Segalovich's addition is a significant step towards forming a "new coalition of change" aimed at ousting the current "racist government" and prioritizing the fight against violence and crime. He emphasized the party's strategy of seeking influence within decision-making bodies rather than engaging in mere protest.

Segalovich, who is joining the list as an individual, expressed his belief in the possibility of political partnership between Arabs and Jews despite their differences. He described the notion that political partnership with Arab parties is no longer feasible after the October 7th events as "absurd and false," stressing the need for cooperation based on trust and acknowledging differences to build a better future.

Abbas reiterated the United Arab List's goal to remove the current government and establish a new one where the party can actively influence issues concerning the Arab community. He highlighted the party's previous work on reducing violence and crime, claiming a decrease in related statistics during their time in government.
