Iran Launches "Decisive" Response, Strikes US Bases in Jordan

Iran announced it launched a "decisive" retaliatory strike, firing missiles and drones at U.S. bases in Jordan, according to Iranian media. This action follows a series of U.S. airstrikes on Iran, which are reportedly ongoing. Iranian news agency Fars confirmed the launch of missiles and drones from Iranian territory.

The U.S. had recently conducted strikes in Iran for the second time in a week, escalating tensions. Reports from Iranian outlets indicated a hit on a U.S. base near the Jordanian city of Aqaba, close to Eilat, Israel. Residents in Eilat reported hearing the echoes of explosions.

Prior to Iran's response, President Trump stated that the U.S. was attacking Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz in response to a failed attempt by Iran to plant naval mines and a missile launch targeting a U.S. base in Jordan, which he claimed was successfully intercepted. Trump warned of a much stronger U.S. response if Iran retaliated.

Iranian news agency Tasnim reported four deaths and fifty injuries in the Strait of Hormuz area due to the U.S. attack, with no casualties reported from a strike on a military facility near Bushehr. Iran officially denied reports of its air defense systems being activated for a third time. The regime claimed its strike targeted the U.S. base "Tajy" near Aqaba, asserting it caused damage.
