Student Brutally Beaten and Filmed by Peers on First Day of School
On the first day of the new school year, a student in Rahat was severely beaten by a group of other students, with the assault also being filmed and shared on social media. The attack is believed to have been a retaliatory act after the victim had previously filmed someone else being assaulted. The group of students then allegedly ambushed him, beat him, and recorded the incident.
One teacher expressed deep concern, stating that the school had hoped for a calm start to the academic year but that this "very serious incident requires immediate attention." The teacher emphasized the need to confront such acts to prevent escalation, noting a similar attack in Rahat months prior and warning against this becoming a routine occurrence.
The incident has sparked outrage and worry among residents, who have sharply criticized the rising violence among teenagers. Concerned citizens described the footage as "heartbreaking" and a "serious warning sign" for parents, schools, and all responsible parties. They stressed the unacceptability of students attacking and filming peers as if it were a game, calling for an immediate halt to the phenomenon before it leads to more severe consequences.
The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
