Maccabi Tel Aviv and Nicolescu Disagree on Loan Terms
Maccabi Tel Aviv and its forward, Yon Nicolescu, are at an impasse regarding his potential loan move. The club wishes to loan Nicolescu out immediately to free up a foreign player registration spot, even if he cannot play until January. However, Nicolescu, who is recovering from a torn cruciate ligament, wants to return to playing as soon as he is medically cleared and is unwilling to wait until January for a spot to open up.
Nicolescu has expressed his desire to join a team where he can play immediately after his recovery. Several clubs, including some from the Romanian league, have shown interest and are considering a deal where Maccabi Tel Aviv would cover his salary. Nicolescu is reportedly hesitant to spend another year without playing, especially after a year sidelined by injury.
Maccabi Tel Aviv is open to loaning Nicolescu to another Israeli team, but they do not want him to join a major competitor for the league title. The situation remains unresolved as both sides hold firm to their positions.
