Maccabi Haifa Releases Fan Survey Results on Supporter Priorities
Maccabi Haifa published the results of a fan survey on Tuesday, based on responses from 13,000 supporters about the club experience, matchday preferences, and goals for next season. The survey found that 70% of fans said they became supporters because of family members, while another quarter said they were drawn in by watching the team play.
According to the findings, 80% support selling beer at concession stands. When asked what needs the most improvement, 37% pointed to better communication with fans and 14% to easier access to Sammy Ofer Stadium. Most respondents, 84%, said they feel safe at home games, compared with 32% who feel safe at away matches.
Fans ranked reaching European competitions as the top sporting ambition, with 66% choosing it as their first priority. Another 27% said success in Israel is the main goal. As for preferred kick-off times at Sammy Ofer, 26% chose Saturday evening, 25% midweek evening, 20% Saturday afternoon, 14% Saturday noon, 5% Friday noon and 9% other.
The survey also said 20% of the club’s season-ticket holders are women. Geographically, 45% of fans live in central Israel, 28% in Haifa and the Krayot, and 23% in northern communities. Ben Peld, deputy CEO of CI Marketing Research, which conducted the survey, said he was surprised by the response and said the fans show a strong emotional bond and sense of belonging, but also dissatisfaction with results in Israel and Europe, matchday costs, and a desire for stronger ties with the club.
