IDF Reservists Receive Surprise Bank Deposits Up to 2,500 Shekels

Tens of thousands of Israeli reservists have been surprised to find financial grants from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deposited into their bank accounts. The payments, intended to help cover household expenses like electricity and property taxes, amount to up to 2,500 shekels per reservist. The funds are transferred directly by the IDF's Manpower Directorate, known as "Mofet," with no action required from the soldiers.

Eligibility for the grant is based on reservist status. All "active reservists" receive a base annual grant of 1,250 shekels. An additional amount is provided for those who have completed 45 days of active service or more. Last year, combat personnel received an extra 1,250 shekels, bringing their total to 2,500 shekels. This year, the additional amount varies based on unit activity level: 1,250 shekels for Class A+ units, 1,065 shekels for Class A, and 815 shekels for Class B.

The first payment wave, covering those recognized as eligible by May, is being distributed now. A second wave is scheduled to be transferred by December for reservists whose eligibility is processed in a report generated in November. Most reservists typically receive their grants on September 1st.
