U.S. Senator JD Vance addressed the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) at a closed-door conference in Las Vegas on Monday, aiming to alleviate concerns about antisemitism and commitment to the U.S.-Israel alliance. While some attendees reported feeling reassured by his remarks, others expressed confusion and disappointment over what they perceived as an ambivalent stance. Vance was questioned about his past appearances with controversial podcasters and commentators. He stated he differentiates between guests but stopped short of fully disavowing figures like Tucker Carlson, whom he acknowledged has made antisemitic remarks, defending his media appearances as a means to reach broader audiences.

In contrast, Ron Dermer, former Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs and an advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, praised Vance's significant role in the "12-day war" with Iran last year. Vance's appearance follows previous controversy in July when he suggested on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that elements within the Israeli government sought to manipulate American public opinion to prolong the war.

The RJC conference focused on broader Republican efforts to position the party as the primary choice for the Jewish community, highlighting declining support for Israel among Democrats and generational divides within young conservatives.
