Hanoch Daum Tells Yair Golan He Won't Vote for Him Despite 7/10 Actions

Journalist and author Hanoch Daum issued a statement to Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan, following controversy sparked by remarks from Sara Netanyahu regarding Golan's actions on October 7th. Daum clarified that while he disagrees with Golan and does not intend to vote for him, he wanted to thank him for assisting Israelis during the Hamas attack.

"I will not vote for you and have never voted for you, Yair Golan, and more than once, things you have said have truly wounded my heart," Daum wrote. His comments came after Prime Minister's wife Sara Netanyahu questioned in an interview the timing of Golan's actions on the morning of October 7th. Netanyahu stated that a high-ranking military official like Golan should have been ready and out early, even before the Prime Minister, given the early hour.

During the same interview, Netanyahu was directly asked about a "betrayal theory" concerning the October 7th events, to which she responded by deferring the matter and calling for an investigative committee. Amidst this backdrop, Daum chose to focus on Golan's actions that day, writing, "But on this night, I want to say thank you very much for going out of your home on October 7th to do what was obvious to you: saving Israelis from slaughter."

Golan, a retired general and former Deputy Chief of Staff, went to the south on the morning of October 7th and assisted in rescuing civilians. According to his previous testimony, he departed for the south after the attack had already begun and subsequently participated in rescuing festival-goers from the Nova party site.
