Israel Police Raise Threat Level Against Former IDF Chief Gadi Eisenkot

Israel Police have elevated the threat level against Gadi Eisenkot, former IDF Chief of Staff and chairman of the National Unity party, to level 4, indicating a focused risk. While not an immediate life-threatening danger, the heightened alert necessitates enhanced security measures. The Police Commissioner has formally recommended to the advisory committee that Eisenkot be provided with immediate armed security.

This decision follows claims from Eisenkot's associates that the risk level against him has indeed increased. However, Shin Bet Director David Barnea has decided against providing security, citing a lack of intelligence to support the elevated threat and Eisenkot's status as not being a government symbol.

Despite the Shin Bet's stance, the public advisory committee has recommended that the Ministerial Committee approve security for Eisenkot. It remains unclear whether the security will be provided by a Shin Bet unit, possibly Unit 730, or through separate armed security personnel.
