Lapid Denies Opposition Boycotting Netanyahu, Cites PM's Own Choices

Opposition leader Yair Lapid on Monday dismissed claims that the opposition is boycotting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the idea "complete nonsense." Speaking on Army Radio, Lapid stated that Netanyahu has never reached out to form a government with the opposition, asserting that the narrative of a boycott is a myth. Lapid suggested that Netanyahu himself chose to form his current coalition with other parties.

Lapid also commented on the recent joining of Saglovich to the Ra'am party, expressing his belief that Saglovich is mistaken in his decision. "We had long discussions on this matter," Lapid said, adding that he respects Saglovich for acting on his convictions.

Earlier, a Likud campaign video depicting Netanyahu as a child being ostracized by classmates had sparked controversy. Some on the right interpreted the video as an accurate portrayal of other parties boycotting Netanyahu. Conversely, others suggested the campaign aimed to prepare the ground for Netanyahu to potentially form a government with Gadi Eisenkot in the future, while sidelining the Otzma Yehudit party.
