Parents Unaware of School Curriculum Changes, Advocate Warns

Advocate Odelia Kedmi, director of the Involved Parents Forum, is raising concerns about the disconnect between the familiar educational system and the actual content students encounter in schools. In an interview with Ariel Dekami, Kedmi explained how external programs, NGOs, and activities are integrated into the school day, questioning the transparency and parental authority regarding these influences.

Kedmi highlighted the "Gafan" programs, a framework for extracurricular and enrichment activities, as a significant area of concern. She stated that parents are often unaware of the specific content and ideological underpinnings of these external programs that are being introduced into the educational environment.

The advocate questioned who is truly shaping the students' values and identity during the new school year, suggesting that external entities might be playing a larger role than parents realize. She emphasized the need for greater parental involvement and awareness regarding the full scope of educational content their children are exposed to.

Kedmi's remarks come as the new school year is set to begin, a time when parents are typically focused on school supplies and logistical preparations, potentially overlooking the deeper curriculum and ideological influences affecting their children.
