Israeli Rioters Barricade in Palestinian Home in Kousra Amid Unusual August Storm Forecast

Israeli rioters threw stones and barricaded themselves inside a Palestinian home in the village of Kousra, prompting intervention by IDF and Border Police forces. The rioters, some masked and dressed in black, occupied the house while residents were inside, injuring a Palestinian woman who required medical evacuation by the Red Crescent. Vehicles used by the rioters were confiscated for investigation. Similar attacks occurred in the nearby village of Jalud, where foreign journalists were assaulted.

In political developments, a new poll published 60 days before the elections reveals a record 27% gap against Benjamin Netanyahu’s suitability as prime minister, with 58% opposing him. The anti-Netanyahu bloc holds 50% support compared to 31% for his bloc. The newly launched party of Ofer Winter crosses the electoral threshold for the first time with 4% support. Additionally, 68% of the public rated the education system's performance as poor ahead of the new school year.

Gilad Erdan, chairman of the Unity party, disclosed ongoing talks with Blue and White leader Benny Gantz and economic party leader Yaron Zelekha about forming a joint political bloc to surpass the electoral threshold. Meteorologically, an unusual August rain system is expected overnight, mainly affecting northern Israel and parts of the center. The forecast includes thunderstorms, hail, localized flooding, and waterspouts, with rainfall amounts ranging from 1-5 mm generally, but up to 20-30 mm in some northern and coastal areas. Cyprus also issued weather warnings due to severe thunderstorms and observed a waterspout near Larnaca.

Separately, a fatal traffic accident near Karmiel on Route 854 resulted in two men in their 30s killed and another seriously injured. The road was closed for investigation by northern district police. Emergency teams confirmed the deaths at the scene, and the injured was evacuated to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.
