Arizona Driver Caught Speeding to Watch Reality TV Episode

An unidentified woman in Arizona was stopped by police after driving 174 km/h, reportedly so she could get home in time to watch a new episode of her favorite American reality show as soon as it aired. According to the documents released, she told officers she was trying to get home quickly to see the program.

The incident took place on Highway 347 in Pinal County, where the posted speed limit is 65 mph, about 105 km/h. Police said she was traveling about 72 km/h over the limit. The Arizona Highway Patrol said the woman was arrested for criminal speeding and reckless driving.

Her car was also seized and sent to a tow yard for 20 days, according to the department. The woman’s identity was not released, and no sentence has yet been imposed.

The episode she rushed to see included a vote, and for the first time this season, viewers were allowed to decide the contestants’ fate.
