Bereaved Parents Threaten to Sue Naftali Bennett Over Interview Remarks
Bereaved parents have sent a pre-lawsuit notice to former prime minister Naftali Bennett over comments he made in an interview earlier this month, according to a Channel 14 report. They are demanding an apology and 50,000 shekels in compensation.
In the interview, Bennett accused Likud of hiring "thugs with megaphones" to disrupt the Memorial Day ceremony while he was serving as prime minister. The Hajaj couple say they were the ones who organized the protest against him, insist that nobody sent them and that no one paid them. They also said they had once been enthusiastic supporters of Bennett, but felt he lied to them when he formed a government with Mansour Abbas.
Their warning letter says Bennett spread "nonsense, lies and nonsense" about bereaved families in general and about them in particular, and falsely and disgracefully claimed they were paid thugs hired by Likud. Bennett responded: "I love and appreciate the Hajaj family and all the families of terror victims."
