Brazilian Striker Felipe Clemente Misses Israeli Move, Thrives Back Home

Felipe Clemente, a Brazilian striker, was set to join M.S. Kiryat Yam in Israel's National League in June 2025 after a successful stint at Confiança in Brazil's third division. The club announced his signing and welcomed him publicly, with Clemente expressing excitement about playing in Israel. However, due to the outbreak of war with Iran and the resulting closure of Israeli airspace, his arrival became impossible. Although Clemente had a flight ticket and housing arranged, his mother vetoed the move because of security concerns.

Despite the club's enthusiasm and his own desire to join, Clemente never set foot in Israel or played a single match for Kiryat Yam. Instead, he returned to Brazil and signed with Gama, where he flourished in 2026. At 27 years old, he scored 21 goals in 32 appearances, including 11 in Serie D, helping Gama secure promotion to Serie C. Clemente's impressive form attracted interest from higher-tier Brazilian clubs, with Nautico and Sport showing interest. Ultimately, Goiás secured his services on loan until the end of the season, marking the highest level of his career so far. Upon his presentation, Clemente called Goiás the biggest club he had played for and expressed determination to deliver performances even better than those at Gama.

More than a year after his planned Israeli debut fell through, Clemente has become a prolific scorer in Brazil, turning a missed opportunity abroad into a breakthrough in his home country.
