Thousands of Secular Youth Join Belz Hasidim for Major Selichot Prayer Event in Jerusalem

An extraordinary gathering took place at the main study hall of the Belz Hasidic dynasty in Jerusalem, where thousands of secular young people seeking spiritual growth filled the hall to capacity for a central Selichot prayer event. Organized by Tzohar, the Center for Rooted Judaism, the event brought together young men who have recently begun embracing Torah and mitzvot, marking one of the most significant and moving outreach occasions in recent years.

The evening opened with inspiring words from Rabbi Yitzchak David Grossman, the chief figure in the outreach movement and rabbi of Migdal HaEmek, who emphasized the great merit of those returning to tradition. The highlight came when the doors opened for the joint entrance of the Belz Rebbe, the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, and Rabbi Grossman. Their united presence symbolized a deep connection across different Hasidic and traditional sectors of the Haredi community ahead of the Days of Awe.

As the Selichot prayers began, thousands raised their voices together in the recitation of the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy, creating a profound spiritual atmosphere. After the prayers, Rabbi Grossman encouraged the participants to continue their courageous daily spiritual growth. The event concluded with a special "Mi Sheberach" prayer by Rabbi Yosef for the health and longevity of the Belz Rebbe, joined by the entire assembly.

Representatives of Tzohar noted that the overwhelming turnout demonstrated the public's thirst for truth and connection to God, marking a significant milestone in making Judaism accessible and strengthening unity among those returning to Jewish tradition.
