Tokyo Tops the World’s Summer 2026 Travel Rankings
A new report says the global summer 2026 travel map is much broader than the common assumption that most travelers head only to Europe. Skyscanner’s Smarter Summer Report is based on flight searches by millions of users worldwide, and it identifies the destinations drawing the most interest this summer.
Tokyo ranks first, with the Japanese capital continuing to attract huge demand thanks to its mix of traditional culture, advanced technology, famous food and attractions for all types of travelers. London is second, New York third, followed by Rome and Madrid. Paris is sixth, Athens seventh, Orlando in Florida eighth, Barcelona ninth and Dublin tenth.
The report highlights Spain as one of the strongest destinations, with both Madrid and Barcelona in the top 10. It also shows Greece maintaining its popularity through Athens, while major capitals continue to dominate the list. According to the report’s editors, many travelers are now looking for a combination of city breaks, cultural experiences and destinations with a wide range of entertainment options.
They said that explains the strong presence of large capital cities in the rankings. The data reflects broad global trends, not specifically Israeli preferences, but it offers a snapshot of the destinations attracting the most attention from travelers this year. The ranking points to the places likely to be most visited in the coming summer months.
