FIFA Secretary General Explains World Cup Prices, Says It Will Be the Biggest Event in Human History
Gianni Infantino, FIFA Secretary General, held a press conference today (Wednesday) ahead of the World Cup. It was Infantino's first press conference in years, and he set a very high bar, saying that "the World Cup will be the biggest event in human history."
Infantino was asked why World Cup tickets are so expensive, and said that "tickets for New York Knicks games are higher. That's the market, and they are sold for higher amounts on the black market."
In an unusual move, the FIFA Secretary General opened the press conference with a speech lasting no less than twenty minutes. Later, Infantino addressed Iran and said that "I am very happy to see them in the World Cup. There is no connection between what happened and football. They wanted to play, that is the spirit of football. I am very happy that all the hosts cooperated to allow them to play in the tournament."
