28-Year-Old Man Arrested for Shooting 72-Year-Old in Haifa Over Inheritance Dispute

A 28-year-old resident of Haifa was arrested on Thursday morning on suspicion of shooting a 72-year-old man from the same city the previous night, leaving him in serious condition. Initial police investigations indicate the incident was criminal and related to an inheritance dispute. Authorities stated they will request an extension of the suspect's detention based on the investigation's needs and findings.

The incident was reported to emergency services shortly after 11:00 PM on Wednesday. Paramedics and medics arrived at the scene on Mordechai Anilevich Street in Haifa and evacuated the injured man to Rambam Hospital. He was found semi-conscious with severe penetrating wounds. Paramedics Issy Levy, Mohammad Hazem, and medic Shavah Rotenshtreich described providing life-saving treatment at the scene before transporting the victim in critical condition.

Additionally, over the weekend, a man in his early 20s was seriously injured in a stabbing on Haifa's Halutzei HaTaasiya Street and was also taken to Rambam Hospital. Emergency medical technician Yoed Amar reported the victim was conscious but had a penetrating injury and was transported in serious condition. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for suspects connected to that stabbing.
