Israeli Band Infected Mushroom Faces Growing Boycott, New York Club Cancels Show

Infected Mushroom, one of Israel's most internationally successful electronic music groups, revealed in an interview that they are increasingly targeted by boycotts worldwide. Earlier this month, they were scheduled to perform at the SILO club in Brooklyn, New York. However, after ticket sales had begun, the club canceled their show because the staff and sound company refused to work the event due to the band's Israeli identity. Despite the cancellation, the band relocated the concert to a new venue, where their fans continued to support them.

Band members Amit Duvdevani and Erez Eisen explained that such boycotts have intensified compared to previous years, affecting their performances not only in the United States but also in Australia and Europe. They described the challenges posed by organized groups seeking to cancel their shows and noted that some promoters avoid booking them to sidestep controversy, even if they have longstanding relationships with the band.

In response to these challenges, Infected Mushroom is marking their 30th anniversary by launching a new electronic music festival, INFECTED FESTIVAL, set to take place from September 24 to 26 at Jordan Park. The three-day event will feature three stages and dozens of artists, with Infected Mushroom headlining a three-hour live performance alongside Israeli artists such as Berry Sakharof, Micha Shitrit, Ninet Tayeb, Hadag Nahash, and Hatikva 6. The festival is produced by to-MIX.
