IDF Removes Video Explaining How Haredi Draft Dodgers Can Avoid Arrest at Ben Gurion Airport

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) faced embarrassment after publishing a video on an official social media account that explained to young Haredi men, classified as draft dodgers, how to regularize their status and travel abroad without being arrested at Ben Gurion Airport. The video, created using artificial intelligence, featured a Haredi figure in uniform explaining the process of visiting the recruitment office to arrange their military status, allowing them to leave the country without restrictions.

This method is known within the Haredi community, especially among those traveling to Uman, but the controversy arose because the IDF itself was the source revealing this route. Critics accused the military of effectively providing a "user guide" for circumventing enforcement rather than combating draft evasion. Following widespread backlash on social media, the IDF removed the video within hours.

The IDF acknowledged that the video was published contrary to spokesperson guidelines and stated it does not reflect official military policy. They clarified that the video's intent was to explain the status regularization process aimed at recruitment and meaningful service. The military also noted the video was posted against instructions regarding content publication during the election period and announced that the incident will be investigated.
