Actor Uri Lazerovitch Criticizes Israeli Education Ministry Over Outdated Family Forms

Israeli actor Uri Lazerovitch publicly criticized the Ministry of Education for requiring parents to fill out a pedagogical form listing "mother" and "father" when registering children for school. Lazerovitch, who has two fathers, shared the form on Instagram and questioned what children from non-traditional families are supposed to do when the form only allows for "mother" and "father" entries. He highlighted the exclusion of children without a mother or father, including those from single-parent families or families with same-sex parents like his own.

Lazerovitch called on the education system to stop dictating how families "should" look and suggested replacing the terms with neutral labels such as "Parent 1" and "Parent 2." He emphasized that this simple change could prevent many families from feeling marginalized or different. He concluded with a direct message to the Ministry of Education: "The world has already progressed. Ministry of Education, it’s time to join."

Lazerovitch is married to Erez Berger; they wed in March 2022 in Tel Aviv after two years together. Their first child, Arad, was born in October 2023, and their daughter, Aria, was born in May 2025.
