Shas Affirms Commitment to Netanyahu-Led Right-Wing Bloc Ahead of Elections

Shas party chairman in the Knesset, MK Yinon Azoulay, outlined the party's political stance ahead of the upcoming elections in a detailed interview with Kol Chai radio. Azoulay emphasized that despite the shifting political landscape in Israel, Shas remains firmly committed to the right-wing bloc led by Benjamin Netanyahu. He stated, "We are in the right-wing bloc. Today, the head of the bloc is Benjamin Netanyahu, and if we can do everything to ensure the right-wing bloc wins, we certainly will."

When questioned about a possible alliance with former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot, Azoulay dismissed the idea, acknowledging Eizenkot's contributions to the state but criticizing the political camp surrounding him. "Eizenkot may be a good person who did for the country, but the people around him are bad," he said.

Azoulay also sharply criticized the judiciary following remarks by Judge Yitzhak Amit during a hearing on opening radio frequencies for ultra-Orthodox stations. Amit had noted that many in the ultra-Orthodox community use both kosher and smartphone devices. Azoulay responded, "He revealed his ignorance and hostility," highlighting the deep disconnect between the judicial system and the ultra-Orthodox way of life. He suggested such statements explain the root of the trust crisis between the ultra-Orthodox community and the judicial system.
