76-Year-Old Shoots Neighbor’s Pitbull After Dog Attacks His Pet and Bites Him
A 76-year-old man in Kiryat Motzkin shot his neighbor’s pitbull after the dog attacked his own pet and bit him multiple times. The incident occurred when the 38-year-old female owner of the pitbull left her apartment door open while taking out the trash, allowing the dog to escape without a leash or muzzle. The pitbull charged at the man’s Pekingese dog, causing severe injuries that required urgent medical treatment.
When the man tried to separate the dogs, the pitbull attacked him, knocking him down and biting his hand four times. Fearing for his life and his dog’s safety, the man drew his licensed personal firearm and fired two shots at the pitbull, hitting it once and stopping the attack.
The woman has been charged with negligence for failing to take proper precautions required by law for keeping a dog classified as dangerous. The indictment also notes that this was not the first time the pitbull had attacked other dogs. The case is now before the Kiryat Motzkin Magistrate’s Court.
