Qatar’s ground forces and the Turkish army wrapped up a large-scale joint military exercise in Doha this week, aiming to raise the operational readiness of both militaries. The drill included advanced tactical maneuvers and focused on two especially difficult modern battlefield scenarios, combat in built-up areas and the suppression of mass riots.
As part of the training, the forces practiced anti-insurgency simulations and field operations designed to tighten coordination between Qatar’s emirate ground forces and Turkish units. The exercise was presented as a test of how quickly and professionally the two sides can respond to civilian unrest and complex urban warfare.
The Doha drill came during a particularly busy week for the Turkish military, which was also conducting a separate joint air exercise with Egypt at the same time. According to the report, the successful completion of the Qatar-Turkey exercise marks a new stage in tactical coordination between the countries.
