Israel Beytenu Demands Likud Remove AI-Altered Post Featuring Mansour Abbas and Avigdor Lieberman

Israel Beytenu has sent an urgent legal warning to Likud's legal advisor, Ilan Bombach, demanding the immediate removal of a social media post published on the official accounts of Likud and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The post featured an AI-generated image showing Mansour Abbas, leader of the Ra'am party, placing his hand on Avigdor Lieberman, head of Israel Beytenu, accompanied by the caption "There are things you cannot hide." Israel Beytenu contends that the depicted event never occurred and that the post creates a false factual impression.

The party argues that the post violates Amendment 43 to the Elections Law, which requires clear disclosure when digital content has been materially altered, specifically addressing "deepfake" election propaganda. The post lacked any such disclosure, and Israel Beytenu claims the presentation was intended to mislead viewers into believing the image was authentic. Furthermore, they warn that the post may breach Section 13 of the Elections Law, which prohibits unfair interference with another party's campaign.

Israel Beytenu stated, "Netanyahu is accustomed to falsifications, but this time the post constitutes a serious violation of the recent amendment requiring clear disclosure of AI use." The letter demands that Likud immediately remove the post from all platforms and cease further dissemination. The party's lawyers warned that failure to comply will lead to urgent legal action, including filing a petition with the Central Elections Committee chairman.
