Idan Raichel Reflects on Israel's Intense Reality and New Music in Interview

Following the release of his new single "Uneasy Night," Israeli musician Idan Raichel appeared on the "Midday" program on Kan 11's Reshet Bet radio on Tuesday. Raichel described the song as personal, returning to the warm, familiar sound of his project, and noted the unique emotional resonance of feminine language in Hebrew, similar to his grandfather's view on Yiddish words.

Raichel also spoke about his recent participation in a performance by former captive Shagi Dekel Chen at Nir Oz kibbutz during the Israel Festival. He recounted how Chen wrote an entire album while in captivity, and how they met shortly after Chen's release. Raichel has been supporting him since, describing the debut performance as deeply moving.

Discussing his emotional reactions as a mentor on the reality show "The Voice Israel," Raichel emphasized that the country's real-life drama surpasses any fictional story. He highlighted the current season as a unique human document, reflecting the struggles of Israeli youth and soldiers, including participants from Nir Oz and former captives, which he finds profoundly touching.

Concluding the interview, Raichel shared that he is working on numerous recordings that he hopes will come together into a new album. The interview also referenced Shagi Dekel Chen's revelation about writing songs during captivity and Israeli singer Yonatan Razel's comment on his extensive songwriting.
