Israeli Rhythmic Gymnasts Aim for Medals at 2026 World Championships in Frankfurt

The 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships begin tomorrow in Frankfurt, Germany, at the historic Festhalle arena. The competition features 101 individual gymnasts and 40 national teams. Israel will be represented by individual gymnasts Meital Maayan Somkin and Daniela Monitz, as well as the group team comprising Agam Gav, Arina Gavozdetsky, Avigail Shvud, Taya Sokolenco, Sofia Perzin, and Keren Sobol.

This championship serves as the first qualifying event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The top three individual all-around gymnasts and the top three group teams will secure Olympic berths for their countries. The five-day event starts with two days of individual qualifications on Wednesday and Thursday, determining the 18 gymnasts advancing to the all-around final and the eight finalists for each apparatus.

The individual all-around final and first medal awards take place on Friday. Group competitions begin Saturday, with teams performing two routines: one with five balls and a combined routine with hoops and clubs. Scores from qualifications will decide the group all-around champion and the eight finalists for each routine. Sunday concludes the championships with apparatus finals and medal ceremonies, awarding four individual and two group titles.
