Dolphin Village Offers Affordable Family Seaside Getaway in Western Galilee
Dolphin Village, located in the moshav Shavei Zion on Israel's Western Galilee coast, has become a standout family-friendly vacation spot combining simplicity with thoughtful amenities. Owned by Meital and Ran Winerba, who purchased and renovated the property three years ago, the village offers 22 accommodation units, mostly family-sized, with some featuring heated plunge pools. The couple, who moved from central Israel, aimed to create a nature-close, intimate alternative to large hotels. During the recent conflict, they opened their doors to displaced locals, providing meals and shelter.
The site sits just a three-minute walk from the calm Shavei Zion beach, ideal for children, and near the lesser-known pristine "Haski" beach. Guests receive complimentary beach gear including snorkels, paddleboards, and bicycles, enabling family-friendly activities without extra costs. Additionally, a large villa with three bedrooms and a rooftop pool is available for groups of up to ten, priced between 4,500 and 5,500 shekels per night.
Dolphin Village also offers free access to a sauna, jacuzzi, ping-pong tables, and cozy communal spaces. Breakfast is highly praised for its quality and variety. The location allows visitors to explore nearby attractions on foot or bike, such as an ancient Byzantine church mosaic and the vibrant Nahariya promenade with food trucks and live performances.
Despite the area's recent instability, the past weeks of calm have revived tourism, with events like "July-Art" encouraging Israeli summer vacations in the region. Prices remain family-friendly, with midweek July stays for a family of five starting at 1,358 shekels including breakfast. The owners emphasize maintaining the village’s charm through ongoing maintenance, focusing on simple pleasures like proximity to the sea, accessible activities, and warm hospitality rather than flashy resort features.
Dolphin Village thus represents a refreshing, affordable seaside retreat that honors the legacy of the original historic Dolphin Hotel, which was recently demolished after 80 years. The new venture continues the tradition of welcoming guests to the Western Galilee’s beautiful coastline with a focus on comfort, nature, and family enjoyment.
